The Voith TurboBelt TT Linear Booster Drive is a high-performance secondary drive for belt conveyors. It extends the use of belts in existing systems, as well as increasing their capacity. In new belt conveyor systems, it reduces the requirements on belt quality leading to considerable cost savings.

The TT Drive is very well suited to belt systems that need to be lengthened or a shortened while mining raw materials. Compared to conventional secondary drive technology, the TT Drive does not need belt transfer points. This reduces the strain on the belt and increases its lifetime. Eliminating belt transfer points leads to considerably less dust. In addition, systems that use the TT Drive require less space than conventional systems. This is an important aspect in underground mining.

In lengthy belt systems, the TT Drive reduces the belt tension force so a belt of lower quality can be used saving enormous costs, for example, by using fabric belts instead of steel cord belts. Smaller drive components (motor, gearbox, pulleys, etc.) can also be used. The space required by the head drive is also less.

In existing belt conveyor systems, the TT Drive increases the conveyor capacity while keeping the drives and belts the same. In this way, the existing drives and the belt can be retained.

TT Linear Booster Drive Working Principle

Working principle

Equipped with a head station and a foot station, the Voith TurboBelt TT Linear Booster Drive (TT Drive) is integrated into the actual belt conveyor so that the top run of the carrying belt lies on the upper belt of the pushing belt. Power is transferred linearly by means of the friction lock between the pushing belt and carrying belt.

This reduces the belt tension forces along the length of the TT Drive and also results in a reduction in maximum belt tension force.
