Over One Million Hydrodamps Installed
The Voith torsional vibration damper "Hydrodamp" has made a name for itself in the agricultural machinery sector. For 20 years, the Voith Hydrodamp is being installed in the tractors of nearly all renowned manufacturers. The Voith unit is there to ensure reduced torsional vibrations in the driveline. As a result, the vehicle can run at lower engine speeds, which saves fuel and increases driving comfort.
At present, some 100 000 of these dampers are sold to the agricultural machine industry every years. The Hydrodamp had originally been developed for applications in commercial vehicles such as citybuses with excellent results. After a while, the hydraulic damping principle of the Hydrodamp also proved itself as the ideal solution for tractor drivelines.
Today, nearly all renowned manufacturers of agricultural machines would not want to go without the Hydrodamp. As early as during the project planning phase of their vehicles, they arrange for simulations and tests at Voith. Depending on the test outcome, the manufacturers can then choose the most suitable type from the existing modular range.
At Agritechnica in Hanover, the leading trade show for agricultural machinery, Voith displays all four versions of the current Voith Hydrodamp family in the form of cutaway models. Visitors have thus an opportunity to view the technical details of the Hydrodamp.
