DEKRA Award: Voith a winner in the Safety at Work category

Heidenheim/Düsseldorf: DEKRA recognized technology group Voith yes-terday, for its special achievements in the "Safety at Work" category. The global organization presents this award annually in conjunction with busi-ness magazine WirtschaftsWoche in the "Safety in Transport", "Safety at Work" and "Safety at Home" categories. Expert committees review and evaluate the submissions in the three categories against various criteria such as degree of innovation, effectiveness and transferability.
Voith received the DEKRA Award 2016 for its innovative occupational safe-ty management. The company's frequency rate since fiscal 2006/2007 has been reduced by 93%, to 1.5 accidents per 1 million working hours.

One of the tools used to secure this fantastic achievement was the occupa-tional safety app, eVAP. that was developed by the company. Employees use the app at work via their smartphones or tablets to record and notify managers of potential dangers, independently of production processes or national borders. The information about potential accident risks is used daily by line managers to improve occupational safety.

‘The DEKRA Award is designed to acknowledge companies, and above all the people behind them, for exemplary ideas and initiatives in the area of safety,' said Stefan Kölbl, Chairman of the Board of DEKRA e.V. and DEKRA SE, at the official awards ceremony at the Böhler Areal events center in Düsseldorf.
