Inclined wire trials

Inclined wire trials

Optimization of raw material recipe and clothing

At the HydroFormer test facility in Düren (Germany), new products can be tested and their production on an inclined wire verified, minimizing the investment risk.

The HydroFormer test facility has a formation width of 500 mm and is designed for a speed of 600 m/min. Trials can be carried out at speeds of between 10 m/min and 600 m/min at basis weights of between 7 and 2000 g/m². The test facility is equipped with a pulper, three vats and a flat cone refiner. The HydroFormer headbox and closed white water loop are suitable for 1-, 2- and 3-ply tests. A press section with nip is available, and papers and/or wet-laid non-wovens can then be reeled up wet. The inclined wire angle and the relative angle of the loading board to the formation zone are adjustable,  allowing identification of optimal settings for various product production.

In the HydroFormer test facility, tests on the inclined wire are possible under production conditions, thereby minimizing investment risk. In addition, operating parameters can be determined to prepare for system commissioning at the customer's paper mill. Due to the very low stock consistency of 0.01 – 0.1%, the HydroFormer is predestined for the production of long fiber papers and wet-laid non-wovens.
