Directional Control Valves

Voith directional control valves are solenoid valves that feature extremely fast switching times and a very compact design. Even without a booster, the valves achieve switching times of less than 20 ms. With a booster, switching times of less than 10 ms are achievable. 4/3 directional control valves are equipped with a double-acting solenoid. This saves installation space – up to 30% compared to other commercially available directional control valves.

The directional control valves are particularly well suited to hydraulic systems with short response times. The valves can be switched virtually in real time. This forms the basis for an efficient and safe design of the actuator cycle. This is how to achieve short process times and high process reliability in your system.

In many cases, our switching valves can replace proportional or servo valves, which are being used as switching valves merely because of their dynamic behavior. This reduces your valves procurement costs by up to 50%.

Advantages and benefits

Features Advantages Benefits
  • Fast-acting solenoid system and low moving masses.
  • The valves achieve standard switching times (without a booster) of less than 20 ms.
  • With a booster, switching times of less than 10 ms are achievable.
  • With short process times, your machine or system achieves high productivity.
  • Process reliability is high because the valves switch in real time.
  • The actuator performs no unnecessary motions. This reduces the system's energy demand by up to 30%. The performance of the hydraulic system can be reduced and you can save up to 50% in procurement costs.
  • Double-acting solenoid for 4/3 directional control valves.
  • The installation space is about 30% lower than for other commercially available directional control valves.
  • Your options are very flexible for integrating the valves into your system.
  • Your machines can build smaller and are thus more competitive.
  • Available in a vertical or horizontal design.
  • A horizontal or vertical connection to a mounting plate is possible.
  • All valve designs have only one electrical connection.
  • Each valve has only one plug and one feed line.
  • The reduced wiring effort saves you time and money when building the machines.

Advantages over proportional or servo valves

Hydraulic system designers often use servo valves or proportional valves as switching valves to achieve fast switching times in highly dynamic hydraulic systems. In these cases, you should consider using Voith directional control valves. They offer a whole range of advantages:

  • Up to 50% lower procurement costs
  • Less commissioning effort, no controller setting
  • Lower oil purity required, less filtration effort and no pressure filter circuits
  • Greater protection against malfunctions
  • Up to 50% less installation space needed
  • Reduced wiring effort
