This analysis includes process optimization of anti-foaming and bleeding agent. For this, the volume flows of free and dissolved gas in the approach flow system, and optimal chemical use is determined.

Excessive gas content during bleeding can have a direct negative impact on paper manufacturing, e.g., by pinholes, formation of foam or impairment of retention or dewatering. Deposits can also occur. Likewise, overdosing of anti-foaming and bleeding agent can also indirectly negatively influence the manufacturing process by increasing the COD value or cationic demand, reducing the efficiency of other additives (e.g., retention agents), or encouraging deposits. With the process optimization of anti-foaming and bleeding agent use, the volume flows of free and dissolved gas in the approach flow system (if necessary, also in the stock preparation) and the surface-active substances used are measured and clearly presented. Based on the result, the main sources for gas in the system can be identified, and suitable suggestions for improvement can be made for mechanical reduction of the gas input. A direct savings potential in the case of bleeding and anti-foaming agents and an indirect advantage in the improved performance of the other additives are the result.
