Bevel gears for longitudinal drivearrangement fully suspended KSH-type

Longitudinal drive

The motor is located in the bogie or underneath the railcar body. The motor's shaft is at a right angle to the wheelset's shaft. It is connected to the transmission either directly, via a diaphragm coupling or via a cardan shaft. The bevel gears transmit power at an angle of 90°. The drive's output gear is mounted on a quill shaft. This gear connects to the wheelset by means of a 2-level wedge packet coupling. This provides a fully sprung arrangement.

Helical gears for transversal drivearrangement fully suspended SZH-type

Transversal drive

The motor is located in the bogie. It is connected to the helical gear stage by a diaphragm coupling. The motor's shaft is parallel to the wheelset's shaft. The drive's output gear is mounted on a quill shaft. This gear connects to the wheelset by means of a 2-level wedge packet coupling. This provides a fully sprung arrangement.
