Voith brings young people closer to classical music
Since 2006, the music project "A Música Venceu" (Music Won) has offered violin lessons as a music introduction course for students of the Friedrich von Voith State School, located in the Jaraguá neighborhood, near Voith’s plant in São Paulo. The project gave rise to the first classical music school founded by the Fundação Bachiana Filarmônica (Bach Philharmonic Foundation).
"A Música Venceu" [Music Won] was created in 2006 by the famous Brazilian conductor and pianist João Carlos Martins. This project has had a great impact on the students of the Friedrich von Voith State School, located in the Jaraguá neighborhood, near Voith’s plant in the city of São Paulo. The students now perform regularly at Sala São Paulo (one of the city's most important concert halls), as well as in other schools and public venues near Voith Brazil’s plant.
In October 2021, seven students from the program performed as soloists in a concert of the Fundação Bachiana Filarmônica in São Paulo. Four of these students applied for EMESP (São Paulo State Tom Jobim Music School) and delighted the community with their good news: three were approved and another one is on the wait list. In the selection process, students of the Polo de Música do Jaraguá (Jaraguá Music Center) competed with more than 300 students and were ranked among the top 30 applicants.
