Voithians give nursing home residents a holiday to remember

When it became apparent that due to Covid-19 restrictions residents of a nearby nursing home weren’t going to receive visitors or presents during the 2021 holiday season, the Voith team in West Monroe, Louisiana stepped up to provide gifts for local seniors.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the families of residents at Meadowview Health & Rehab Center weren’t allowed to visit their family members during the holidays.

To help bring some holiday cheer during a difficult time, the nursing home staff decided they needed to recruit “angels” to provide gifts for the more than 100 residents. The nursing home sent out the call for help to local churches, businesses and organizations to become angels and fulfill the holiday wishes of the seniors in need.

Voith employees jumped into action to help their community. The Voith team fulfilled a big number of requests.

Doug Hardy, Area Manager of the Cover Shop, for Voith Paper in West Monroe, describes the whole experience as remarkably positive for all of those involved. “Meadowview said they will be asking us to help again next year, and we’re happy to do that. We’re even looking into how we might be able to help multiple nursing homes in the area,” he said.
