Michael Rogowski turns 80

Heidenheim. Dr. Michael Rogowski, the long-time chairman of the Corporate Board of Management of the Voith Group, Shareholders’ Committee and Supervisory Board, will celebrate his 80th birthday on Wednesday. The former President of the Federation of German Industries (2001 to 2004) and current Chairman of the Board of the Hanns Voith Foundation has served Voith for over 35 years. The native of Stuttgart has been with the international family-owned group since 1974. As Head of Human Resources and Social Services, he was appointed Deputy Managing Director of Voith in 1976, and Managing Director two years later. Between 1982 and 1992 he also headed the Group’s Drive Technology Division and became spokesman for the Board of Management. In 1992, Rogowski became Chairman of the Corporate Board of Management.
Following eight years at the helm of the Group, Rogowski became Chair of the Supervisory Board in 2000 and also served as Chair of the Shareholders’ Committee until 2010. Outside of Voith, Rogowski has also played a role in numerous associations and on other supervisory boards and has held various honorary positions. For example, he was President of the VDMA, the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association, for a period of two years. He was also President of the BDI, the Federation of German Industries, from 2001 to 2004. He has received numerous honors for his services to industry and society, including the Japanese “Order of the Rising Sun”, the “Gold Medal for Services to the Republic of Austria”, the “Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany” and “Honorary Senator” of the University of Tübingen. 

Michael Rogowski is currently the only living honorary citizen of the town of Heidenheim, the global headquarters of the Voith Group. “On behalf of all of our 19,000 employees I would like to wish Michael Rogowski all the very best on this special birthday and hope that he will continue to approach everything with his trademark drive and enthusiasm,” says Dr. Toralf Haag, CEO. “We are proud that Michael Rogowski is and has been such an important and substantial figure in our company’s history, someone who has defined and shaped our Group for almost 40 years and who continues to serve Voith, the region and Germany as a business location through his role in the Hanns Voith Foundation and his many other civic commitments.”
