Voith signs contract for Henan Tianchi pumped storage plant
Henan Tianchi pumped storage plant project is intended for energy storage at valley periods to make up for peak periods, frequency and phase regulation, backup for incidents and black start for the power system of the Henan Province. The contract was awarded to Voith because of their expertise in large pumped storage plants and the owner's trust in Voith’s pumped storage technology. Currently, Voith has installed more than 200 pumped storage units around the world with a total installed capacity of over 25,000 MW.
According to the contract plan, the contracted equipment will be completed by December 2020. The first unit will be put into operation by the end of September 2021, and the last unit will commence commercial operation in June 2022.
Henan Tianchi Pumped Storage Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of State Grid Xin Yuan Company Limited. The Tianchi Pumped Storage Plant is located in Mashiping Town, Nanzhao County, Nanyang City, Henan Province, at the upper reaches of Huangya River. Constructed by Henan Tianchi Pumped Storage Co., Ltd., the plant is composed of upper reservoir, water-carriage system, underground powerhouse system, lower reservoir and ground switch station. It will be a first-class large-scale project upon completion. In addition, as part of the upgrade, oil and grease-free bearings were installed to avoid environmental damage.
