Voith Booth at CEPSI 2018 in Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Voith successfully presented the latest technologies and services on trend topics such as digitalization, pumped storage as well as small and mini hydro at CEPSI 2018. The Conference of the Electric Power and Supply Industry (CEPSI) was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from September 17-21. One of the highlights was the presentation of a virtual reality application that allows service tasks in hydropower plants to be performed more efficiently.

Under the motto "Reimagining Utility of the Future" CEPSI 2018 offered an important platform for power industry companies, utility operators, professionals and experts to share their expertise and experience on challenges and give insights impacting the industry – with more than 4,500 visitors taking part. Voith Hydro showcased and exhibited its latest technology, products and services at the conference. Voith experts also actively contributed to the conference program as keynote speakers.

Commitment to the region
Voith's presence at CEPSI 2018 underscored the importance of the region to the company. According to the International Journal on Hydropower and Dams, total hydropower capacity in Asia increased by nearly 77 per cent between 2008 and 2017, representing approximately half of the total global capacity. Over the past decade, significant achievements have been made in China, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Iran and other countries throughout the region. Looking at the ASEAN hydropower market, installed hydropower capacity is likely to increase from around 50 GW in 2017 to 105 GW in 2040.

To be close to customers in this market, Voith Hydro operates three production sites as well as nine sales and service centers in eight countries, including China, India, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Nepal and Malaysia. In Malaysia Voith Hydro has been setting footprints for years. More than 50% of the peninsular hydropower plant capacity has been provided by Voith – namely schemes like Sungai Perak or Cameron Highlands.

Markus Rieck, Chief Sales Officer (CSO) at Voith Hydro, comments: “Our participation in CEPSI 2018 was a huge success, because we were once again able to show how important long-term relationships with our trusted partners are for us. High technological expertise and continuous stability have been our trademarks for 150 years - and will continue to be so in the future.”

Voith demonstrated how its solutions, services and experience help clients gradually increase the intelligence of their plants. Derived from the long-time experience, Voith experts know the important data and how hydropower plant operators are achieving greater efficiency, flexibility as well as security using big data.
