Voith St. Pölten to Open its Doors for Long Night of Research

The Voith Business Divisions Paper, Turbo and Hydro will provide an insight in their current and innovative projects in the new 2,500 m2-production hall, which was opened last year.
"Voith is one of the most important employers in St. Pölten, and this is why we would like to show to the interested public during our "Long Night of Research", which projects we are developing and promoting, in order to stay an attractive company. Due to our long-standing know-how, we and our nearly 1100 employees in St. Pölten are always committed to innovation to make our product and project developments even more efficient and effective. We look forward to showing the people in our region which standards Voith is setting in the markets energy, oil and gas, paper, raw materials, transport and automotive," says Dr. Leopold Heninger, CEO of Voith Hydro St. Pölten.

Future Technologies for Power Generation
Voith Hydro, one of the world's leading suppliers of equipment and services for hydro power, will show to interested visitors, how clean energy comes straight from the socket. In a spectacular 3-D presentation, visitors will get an opportunity to float through a turbine as a water particle. At its St. Pölten plant, Voith Hydro will show three Pelton runners for a power station in Russia, including peripheral equipment. The 4.2-meter runners, each weighing 23 tons, are exhibited in the production hall. One of Voith's principal goals is to promote innovation in the field of energy generation. Alongside its hydro power activities, the company therefore also develops technologies for power generation from ocean energies.

Innovations for Optimizing the Paper Production Process
Voith Paper will inform visitors on the subject "Paper - a Sustainable Product" and demonstrate with a paper machine, a roll, various dissolved substances, as well as waste paper and pulp cubes how paper is made. Through ongoing innovation regarding the efficient utilization of electricity, water and fiber, Voith is continuously optimizing the paper production process.

Voith Turbo: Efficient Products for Reduced Energy Consumption
Voith Turbo gives priority to innovative and efficient products for transport purposes and delivers electro-mechanical drive components for rail vehicles - from pantograph down to the wheels. Visitors of the "Long Night of Research" will be able to get behind the steering wheel of a tram at a simulator and learn how the energy consumption of a rail vehicle can be increased or reduced through different ways of driving.
