DB German Railways Nominates Voith as "Supplier of the Year"

Against the background of the international rail transport exhibition InnoTrans, DB German Railways has presented its DB Supplier Award for the fifth time: for the transport operator, Voith is the "Supplier of the Year 2012" in the category "Vehicles." The Kielbased Voith Turbo Lokomotivtechnik (VTLT) received the prize for the project "Procurement of 130 shunting locomotives type Gravita." This makes Voith the first DB supplier to receive the award in the category "Vehicles."
Dr. Norbert Klapper (Executive Vice President Business Division Rail Voith Turbo) and Hinrich Krey (Chief Executive Officer Voith Turbo Lokomotivtechnik) accept the prize from Dr. Volker Kefer (Board Member Technology, Infrastructure and Services of Deutsche Bahn AG) and Jürgen Manegold (TE).
"We are immensely proud of this award," says Hinrich Krey, Chief Executive Officer of VTLT. "It is the result of our partnership and our cooperation in all areas of the project since 2007, and of course also of the outstanding performance of our staff in Kiel and the support throughout the entire Group." Worldwide, DB German Railways has business relations with some 35 000 suppliers and, using InnoTrans as a platform every two years, presents those who have demonstrated exceptional services as "DB Supplier of the Year."

With this supplier award, DB German Railways acknowledges both the reliability and the innovative power and quality of its suppliers. As DB Board Member Dr. Volker Kefer (Technology and Infrastructure) explains, this accolade is only given to "highly committed, particularly efficient companies."

Voith convinced DB mainly by the fair and responsible cooperation, the high quality of the vehicles and the company's adherence to delivery schedules. VTLT received the order from DB for 130 vehicles in summer 2008, and has been delivering vehicles since 2010.

Additionally, like last year, Voith was also awarded by DB German Railways with the title "Outstanding Supplier" for exceptional services. "The fact that we have now also received the top award makes us of course particularly happy," emphasizes Dr. Norbert Klapper, Executive Vice President of the Business Division Rail of Voith Turbo. "It is an impressive demonstration that our customers recognize the Voith philosophy of long-term, trusting business relations with high product quality, and that they fully appreciate this philosophy."

Voith Turbo, the specialist for hydrodynamic drive, coupling and braking systems for road, rail and industrial applications, as well as for ship propulsion systems, is a Group Division of Voith GmbH.

Voith sets standards in the markets energy, oil & gas, paper, raw materials and transportation & automotive. Founded in 1867, Voith employs almost 40 000 people, generates €5.6 billion in sales, operates in about 50 countries around the world and is today one of the biggest family-owned companies in Europe.
