HEIDENHEIM/ROM. Voith is equipping 337 new citybuses of the Roman transport operator ATAC S.p.A. Roma with the proven DIWA.5 automatic transmission. Developed specifically for buses, the DIWA automatic transmission ensures economical operation in the demanding start-stop traffic in the "Eternal City".

The purchase of the 337 new Iveco Citelis buses with Euro EEV engines constitutes the largest modernization project of the ATAC fleet for the last seven years. Since June 50 new vehicles are delivered every month, so that all new buses will be ready for service by the end of this year.

Congested traffic and high summer temperatures make enormous demands on the public transport in the Italian capital. "With the Voith DIWA automatic transmission, Rome's transport operator counts on reliability and economy, in order to move the people of Rome as well as more than 10 million tourists per year safely and comfortably from A to B," states Eva Katharina Zimmer, Managing Director Voith Turbo in Italy.
