More Driving Comfort for the "Eternal City": Voith Delivers DIWA.5 Automatic Transmissions for 337 New Citybuses of Rome's Main Transport Operator
Congested traffic and high summer temperatures make enormous demands on the public transport in the Italian capital. "With the Voith DIWA automatic transmission, Rome's transport operator counts on reliability and economy, in order to move the people of Rome as well as more than 10 million tourists per year safely and comfortably from A to B," states Eva Katharina Zimmer, Managing Director Voith Turbo in Italy.
Voith automatic transmissions have been in service with ATAC S.p.A. from as early as 1970. At the time, Voith fitted the first Fiat 410 citybuses with the Voith DIWA 501 automatic. This marked the beginning of the era of automatic transmissions in Italy's public transport. With its technologies, Voith is still making a decisive contribution to passenger mobility in the Italian metropolis.
Voith sets standards in the markets energy, oil & gas, paper, raw materials and transportation & automotive. Founded in 1867, Voith employs more than 42,000 people, generates € 5.7 billion in sales, operates in about 50 countries around the world and is today one of the biggest family-owned companies in Europe.
