ST. PÖLTEN / HEIDENHEIM. Another milestone for small hydropower at Voith: With the festive inauguration of the new Hydropower Technology Center and a new production hall for final assembly at Kössler, the competence center for small hydropower at Voith, a new era started yesterday evening.

During his commemorative speech, Josef Lampl, Managing Director of Kössler, emphasized that the investment in the location expansion is a clear commitment from Voith to the Austria location, a commitment to small hydropower and to the future of hydropower as a whole. "The potential of hydropower is a long way from being exhausted; not here in Austria, not in Europe, and especially not worldwide," said Josef Lampl.

"With the release of the investment in the construction and expansion here in St. Georgen we demonstrate that at Voith we believe in Small Hydropower, despite the challenges hydropower is exposed to at the moment, in particular in the European market environment," said Dr. Roland Münch, Chairman of the Management Board of Voith Hydro.

The new construction was officially inaugurated in the presence of customers, business partners, local government representatives, Voith and Kössler management and employees. A gala dinner and live performances rounded off the festive inauguration.

The inauguration was preceded by the third Kössler "Join Small Hydro Experience" small hydropower symposium under the motto "Customers for Customers – Experts for Experts". This year, small hydropower projects from Great Britain, Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Eastern Europe and Russia were presented and discussed by customers and technical experts. This customer symposium was established as a platform to offer the opportunity for an exchange of expertise and experience and to find out about innovations in the realm of hydropower products and systems.

As one of the leading global suppliers in hydropower, Voith offers technologies and services for large and small hydropower plants. Kössler has belonged to the Voith Hydro global network since 2007 and has become the European Competence Center for small hydropower in the company, which offers its customers products at the latest state of technology.
