DIWA.6 Automatic Transmission
Dubai. Voith will be showcasing the latest DIWA.6 transmission with complimentary smart service solutions at the World Trade Centre Expo 2020, stand number 5E40, in the host city of Dubai. The event will take place from the 23 to 25 April 2018. Voith will present the DIWA.6 efficiency package especially designed for the intercity bus market which caters to fleets requiring the Euro-6 standard. Compared to its predecessor, this transmission reduces fuel consumption by up to five percent. This is achieved through reducing the requirement-related working pressure as well as intelligent start-up management which prevents driving off with the service brake engaged. The optimized automatic neutral shift (ANS) disengages the transmission for a longer period, which leads to additional fuel savings. SensoTop, the topography-dependent gear-shifting program and the telemetric system DIWA SmartNet completes the efficiency package solution.

DIWA SmartNet is vital to meaningful existing fleet management system as it allows for the implementation of preventive maintenance and overhaul strategies. “This is a vital building block on the way towards lower costs and higher availability of any bus fleet” says Alireza Khahan, Voith Vice President for Sales in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey. The system utilizes operating and maintenance data from the transmission control unit. Data received can be directly linked to the network of the on-board computer via an interface utilizing standard onboard computer routines.

For this reason there is no need for individual computer programs or the development of specific apps. In vehicles without a computer, the transmission data can be transmitted via W-LAN. “Costs for data transmission via mobile radio are thus a thing of the past” concludes Khahan.

The data evaluation occurs in a central internet portal. Each fleet vehicle is assessed accordingly and any critical values that have been exceeded generate a report that operators can utilize to schedule planned workshop stops before the vehicle breakdowns somewhere on route.

In addition to this, Voith’s worldwide service network provides fast and affordable technical support, as well as supply of spare parts or even exchange transmissions "remanufactured by Voith." These exchange transmissions provide operators with units on the same technical level as a new gearbox, combined with the reassurance of the Voith warranty.
