Transport environment solutions at Bus2Bus in Berlin

  • Voith will participate at the Bus2Bus in Berlin
  • The compact electric motor, that is part of the energy-efficient Voith Electrical Drive System, will be on display at the booth
  • Also at the booth: the new DIWA NXT automatic transmission with optional mild-hybrid system and extra overdrive gear
Voith’s innovative electrical drive system is designed for busses from all manufacturers.
BERLIN, GERMANY. Voith is taking part at the Bus2Bus in Berlin for the first time. The innovative trade fair for buses will take place at the Berlin exhibition grounds (ExpoCenter City) from March 19 to 21, 2019. The latest drive system solutions from Voith will be on display at booth 103 in hall 26.

A leader in the areas of efficiency and reliability: Voith Electrical Drive System
With the development of a unique and fully electrical drive, Voith enters the growing market for e-mobility. The electrical drive is the first vehicle-independent complete system. It includes the drive components, the control of the auxiliary units, high-voltage distribution, the cooling system and the wiring of the auxiliary units.

The first prototype was installed in a Solaris Urbino electric. It is easy to integrate the plug-and-play system into vehicles from other manufacturers without any restrictions. The water-cooled Permanent Magnet Motor has a high-power density and can be used in single and articulated buses.

The new DIWA NXT features an optional mild-hybrid system with a 48V central recuperation unit (CRU).
Advanced transmission technology for efficient bus operation
Voith has committed to moving forward in the development of automatic transmissions with its new DIWA NXT. The DIWA NXT features an optional mild-hybrid system with a 48V central recuperation unit (CRU) and an additional overdrive gear. As a result, the DIWA automatic drive remains the top choice for city buses and perfectly meets the needs of the inter-city and coach segment. First vehicle findings confirm a high level of passenger comfort and outstanding efficiency. A model of the new DIWA NXT transmission will be displayed at the Voith booth.

Voith’s successful DIWA.6 automatic transmission already offers an additional stop-start function that allows bus operators to increase the efficiency of their buses and at the same time provide added value for the environment. More than 1,500 buses have already been equipped with the DIWA.6 stop-start function. Depending on the operating cycle, fuel savings of up to 12 percent can be achieved.
