Voith Paper ventilation technology reduces production costs
Through the modernization of its ventilation technology, Voith recently helped a German paper manufacturer to reduce its energy use and therefore lower production costs. The customer now confirms that the energy saving goals which were set have even been exceeded.
The rebuild included installation of new ventilation technology in the dryer section, improving the connection of the steam and condensate system and the ventilation technology and setting up modern hall ventilation technology. The cylinder dryer section equipped with impingement hoods can now be controlled effectively via a hot air system operated by gas burners. The fresh air for drying is pre-heated via heat recovery from the hood exhaust and the steam and condensate system. This saves power and gas.
The new hall ventilation technology also offers a good production climate. The exhaust heat from the process covers a large part of the heating energy requirement. Heat recovery units were installed in the dryer section exhaust and in the exhaust of the vacuum pumps. Steam is used for the heating only when the heat recovery does not supply sufficient energy.
The supplied automation technology can be operated by the customer via the existing control system and is equipped with an energy optimization system (EOS) from Voith. This maximizes the energy output from the heat recovery units.
Voith Paper is a division of the Voith Group and the leading partner to and pioneer in the paper industry. Through constant innovations, Voith Paper is optimizing the paper manufacturing process, focusing on developing resource-saving products to reduce the use of energy, water, and fibers. Furthermore, Voith Paper offers a broad service portfolio for all sections of the paper manufacturing process.
Voith sets standards in the markets energy, oil & gas, paper, raw materials and transportation & automotive. Founded in 1867, Voith employs almost 42,000 people, generates € 5.7 billion in sales, operates in about 50 countries around the world and is today one of the biggest family-owned companies in Europe.
