Compact Dispersion System

Reduce unwanted contaminants and improve optical characteristics

Dispersion is used in recovered fiber applications primarily to reduce the size of contaminants to avoid problems downstream in the papermaking process.

For white grades, dispersion also ensures the best optical properties. As residual ink particles are separated from the fibers in the disperger, efficient deinking can take place in flotation cells. If bleaching is required in the system, dispergers are used for an intense mixing of the bleaching agents with the fibers.

For brown grades, dispersion not only reduces the contaminants but also contributes to improve strength properties.

Voith’s Compact Dispersion System impresses with its reliable and high dewatering performance, quick and efficient steam heating and outstanding technology as a result of dispersion. The system provides reliable operation with only three machines. Thanks to the reduced number of machines, up to 35% less facility space is needed. Also, a simpler system means easy handling and high availability of the system. In addition, energy savings of up to 10% can be achieved.

        InfiltraScrewpress

Highest dewatering efficiency in stock preparation

The first process stage of a dispersion system is the dewatering of the fiber suspension. In the Compact Dispersion System from Voith, InfiltraScrewpress facilitates efficient dewatering of the suspension to a stock consistency of around 30%.

The customized press screw design of InfiltraScrewpress leads to a more homogeneous and continuous dewatering of the pulp. This optimization results in improved pulp heating and chemical mixing in SpeedHeater as well as the avoidance of performance fluctuations of InfibraDisp. The special design of the screen element SplitScreen enables the single exchange of the screen plate, thereby lowering maintenance time and costs.

        SpeedHeater

        Efficient heating, fluffing and homogenizing

SpeedHeater is Voith’s unique steam heating unit. It provides for efficient heating, fluffing and homogenization of the pulp. The rotational speed of the SpeedHeater provides for optimal process efficiency. It works by means of steam heating in which the steam supply can be precisely controlled. Exact temperature measurement is also made possible. Bleaching chemicals can be homogeneously mixed.

Since SpeedHeater combines fluffing, heating, mixing and homogenizing in one machine, the number of machines required in the dispersion system can also be reduced. Its stable operation provides a consistent pulp quality.

        InfibraDisp

The new disperger InfibraDisp from Voith achieves outstanding dispersion results with low energy consumption in paper production.

Many customer benefits thanks to optimized design

Voith’s new disperger InfibraDisp achieves outstanding dispersion results with low energy consumption. With the feeding screw and its new conical design, the flow into the filling is optimized. As a result, a continuous and homogenous pulp feed into the filling is provided at minimum energy level. With InfibraDisp, operation and maintenance costs are reduced thanks to the simplified design of the feeding screw without additional drive, bearing and sealing unit.
InfibraDisp is equipped with a unique and operator-friendly hydraulic gap adjustment. Requested gap is set by basic magnet valves, and a position sensor gives precise feedback on gap value. Therefore, simple operation and control are ensured at all times. Combined with an automatic zero-point setting and a wear indicator, Voith offers a safe, precise and reliable concept for its dispergers.

        Thune Screw Press

Optimally dewatered pulp with screw presses

The screw presses for pulp applications are installed as key components for stock dewatering, washing processes and water circuit separation processes.

The different capacities of each Thune screw press with varying discharge stock consistencies ensure excellent dewatering performance for many different operating conditions, thanks to a special screw geometry that meets various raw material requirements and applications. The structure ensures a high and uniform discharge consistency. The screen hole pattern and the narrow tolerance between the screw flight and screens prevent blockage. An additional screen (for non-pressurized screw presses) on the screw shaft leads to a higher and more uniform discharge stock consistency.

        KRD Disperger

Stable operation for high and consistent pulp quality

KRD dispergers are installed in many dispersion systems worldwide. Thanks to a strong and modular design, they are perfect for all applications. The KRD disperger for pressurized operation is mostly used in board & packaging applications at higher temperatures to combine good strength properties and high optical cleanliness. For graphical grades, the KRD disperger for atmospheric operation allows high energy input for applications with highest optical requests. The KRD alternative with direct heating offers a solution for customers who have space limitations.

KRD dispergers are available with a wide range of fillings to match all application and process requirements. The exchange of fillings is supported by a run-out dolly and is therefore easy to use and reliable.

The hydraulic system of the new InfibraDisp disperger allows us to perform a precise ‘zero-point’ adjustment after the plate change by just pressing a single button. This eliminates the need for manual intervention on the disperger itself.
The new system for measuring filling wear will allow us to improve the monitoring of fillings throughout their life cycle, to compare the wear between different fillings or with different raw materials and to detect abnormalities even before a planned shutdown.
