Voith HydroSchool provides global and individual courses, such as condition assessment, rehabilitation and modernization of turbines or generators, regardless of manufacturer, with a goal of improving on-the-job performance.

Keep your proficiency level up-to-date and improve the knowledge and skills needed by engineers, technical professionals and project specialists. 101 Hydropower Technology – Overview and Lifecycle

This seminar will provide participants with knowledge of generator physics and hydropower component design. It will provide a high-level technology overview of hydroelectric generators, turbines, stators and coils including the design, components, mechanical and electrical operation within the project lifecycle. 103 Balance of Plant System - Design Fundamentals

The Mechanical Balance of Plant systems are the “life support” of a turbine generator unit and they cannot operate properly without them. This training presents the variety of equipment options, explains their function and demonstrates the importance of having a well-designed and integrated mechanical Balance of Plant System.

104 Shaft Line Alignment for Hydro Power Equipment

This course includes training on shaft alignment for the powerhouse workforce providing the maintenance and technical support for hydropower units. The training presents topics of interest and information needed by commissioning teams.

106 Introduction to hydropower plants for non-engineers

By the end of the seminar, the participants will be familiar with the various types of hydropower plants, the structure and the mode of operation of the most important technical components, and the developmental phases that a hydropower plant passes through from construction to modernization. To deepen the gained knowledge, the participants visit the large turbine hall, in which parts of turbines and generators are produced, processed and installed.

Automation & Control

Voith offers hydroelectric automation from a single source to ensure complete service and seamless availability for hydropower plants. Our experts are experienced and will train you in automation improvements for hydroelectric power plant operation and maintenance or in excitation systems.

401 Excitation System Overview

The objective of this training is to give the audience an overview of excitation system concepts and the Voith Thyricon Excitation System. The topics presented include excitation system concepts, theory, regulation and standards as well as the control and power system components. It also provides an overview of the Thyricon system including redundancy.

402 Speed and Voltage Regulation Systems: Theory and Practice

Covers the most important concepts involved in a regulator's design, maintenance, and operation.
