Our FAQ provides answers to the most frequent questions about Voith, the possibilities of joining our company, as well as the career perspectives on offer.

General

How can I apply?
Every vacancy on our website contains a link to our online application form. Please use this form for your application wherever possible, as it ensures swift processing. The vacancy usually names a personal contact with whom you can get in touch in the event of queries. Unless stated otherwise, you may also apply by letter. Should you not find a suitable job among our current vacancies, you may also send us a spontaneous application, preferably using the online form. Please bear in mind that the more detailed you describe the desired position and the associated conditions, such as location, etc., the higher your chances are to succeed. Applications to overseas locations should be sent directly to the respective subsidiary.

Why can it take quite some time before get a reply to my application?
Applications require coordination between different people and departments. Business trips and holidays may result in delays. Long waiting times should not be interpreted negatively: there may be increased interest in different areas or we have not yet concluded the selection process for the vacancies. In both cases this means your application is still being considered.
Tip: don't be shy to ask about the status of your application. The vacancy usually contains a name for personal contact.

How long before I can start a job do I have to apply?
We always aim to fill vacancies as quickly as possible. Tip: we recommend an early application, i. e. about two months before your desired start. For practical traineeships or graduation papers it is advisable to apply half a year in advance.

Can I send an application to several locations at a time?
This is possible for spontaneous applications. In the online application tool you can choose from several Voith locations in Germany. For smaller Voith locations with low personnel requirements, spontaneous applications are not possible, as the chances for success are relatively low. In such cases you can only apply for official vacancies.

Can I send a spontaneous application and a specific application for a vacancy at the same time?
When you send us an online application for a certain position, the system queries whether you are principally interested in other offers. If the answer is yes, we are assessing further possibilities, in case your application for the specific vacancy is not successful. Please be aware that his might delay the process.

How advisable is it to send a spontaneous application?
We recommend spontaneous applications if you have graduated in a study discipline in which we are particularly interested. This applies for example for subjects such as mechanical engineering or paper technology. In case of doubt you can always get further information about current vacancies at your desired location or centrally at the Personnel and Higher Education Marketing Department (Telephone 07321 37-2092). Please bear in mind that the more detailed you describe the desired position and the associated conditions, such as location, etc., the higher your chances are to succeed.

School Students

When and where do I have to apply? 
Please ask for the application deadlines at your preferred location. Please consider to apply at least one year in advance of the intended start of training/studying.

How can I apply?
The offers for an apprenticeship or dual studies published on our website contain a link to our online application form. Please use this form. Applications by post or email can only be accepted for locations that are not yet joined to our online application system. If you are not sure look what it says in the vacancy.

How can I get to know Voith more closely?
At a number of public events, for example on training days, open days, graduate or training fairs at our various locations, where Voith employees present our company and are happy to answer all your queries. To find out where and when you can meet us, please click on 'Events.'

What does Voith expect from its future trainees?
Our trainees and apprentices should be passionate about working and learning. The career path depends on the relevant school leaving certificate.

What do I earn as an apprentice or trainee?
Our remuneration for trainees is governed by the respective wage agreements for trainees and graded within the training program.

How does Voith select apprentices/dual students?
The training executives make their choice in a multi-stage process applying utmost care and discretion. The assessment of school leaving certificates is followed by comprehensive tests and a final personal interview. This sophisticated selection process is an important reason for the fact that the training drop-out rate at Voith is below 1 percent - the average quota for Germany as a whole is 21 percent. The extensive selection pays off. It avoids disappointment for young people and also benefits the company. A win-win situation for all concerned.

How can I find a training course that suits my interests?
Take time when you choose your career path, make yourself aware of your strengths and weaknesses. Parents, teachers and friends can help. Use the opportunity to get an insight into several possible jobs during a work experience scheme. Ask people about their jobs, what they have to know and what they particularly like about their work.

What will my training/apprenticeship at Voith be like?
Training programs should be motivating, young people must enjoy their job and their work - this is what the training executives at Voith think. For this reason you never work for the waste paper basket or the scrap heap. During your training at Voith you go through many departments and stay there for about three to four months. And then you move on to the next department - this ensures variety and gives you a good overview of the company. In addition, there are also lectures at the vocational school as well as in-house courses.

How long does the training/apprenticeship take?
This depends on the type of training: for industrial and technical professions, the training usually lasts three and a half years, for commercial professions three years. But there are also opportunities to shorten the training by half a year.

Can I obtain additional qualifications during my training or studying?
Alongside your training, our locations also offer additional qualification opportunities.

Students

Which study disciplines are particularly attractive for Voith?
We are looking primarily for trainees studying engineering, economics or informatics.

How long does the internship take?
A internship usually covers three to six months. We believe that shorter internships are hardly profitable for either party, but exceptions are possible. The duration of basic and preparatory internships as well as of university internships depends on the prescribed length of the study course.

When should I apply for a internship?
Ideally three to four months prior to the desired start of your internship. However, as our company often has spontaneous requirements for trainees, you might be successful with a short-term application.

How can I apply?

Applications by post or email can only be accepted for locations that have not yet joined our online application system. If you are not sure look what it says I the vacancy. In which areas of Voith can a get a practical internship?
Voith offers practical internship in various company areas: in research & development, design and construction, manufacturing, IT administration/applications, production, technical sales projecting, commissioning and all commercial professions.

Can I also get a basic or preparatory internship at Voith?
Yes, at the locations Heidenheim, Crailsheim, Munich (Garching) or Krefeld. For further information, please contact the local HR department.

Can Voith help interns to find accommodation?
We support you in finding a suitable place to live.

How do I apply for an overseas internship?
Please send us an application under the heading "International Internship" or reply to one of the offered vacancies. For more information, please look under International Internships.

Is there an opportunity to get a job with Voith after completing a Bachelor, Masters or PhD degree?
Writing your final exam paper or thesis at Voith offers excellent opportunities for making contacts and recommending yourself for a future job. Your chances for full-time employment with us certainly increase in this way. Graduates or PhD candidates that stand out are included in a special program offering advanced information about entry possibilities at Voith and thus facilitating the transition into full-time employment. We are, however, not able to guarantee that you will be offered job.

In which areas is Voith primarily looking for professionals?
There are many areas where we look for experienced professionals who can make an effective contribution with their personality and their special know-how. This applies both to technical and commercial areas. Examples are services, sales, project management or strategic planning. Does Voith need senior executives?
New senior executives with external experience enhance our culture and widen our know-how.
