Our aspiration

    Voith defined sustainability as a company value and aims to be an industry-wide catalyst.

    As a family-owned company we are committed to environmentally friendly, fair, long-term business practices. Furthermore, we intend to create measurable added value for the sustainable development of our company, society, and the environment. The goal we set ourselves regarding the way we conduct business is also correspondingly high: We want to make Voith the benchmark in sustainability issues.

    Industrial sustainability is our business model. In this way, we make a decisive contribution to the decarbonization of industry and at the same time secure our growth.

    We repeatedly put our sustainability performance to the test and participate in various sustainability ratings and rankings throughout the year.

    The independent rating agency ISS ESG has rated Voith B- for the third time in a row in 2023.This makes us one of the best companies in the machinery and plant engineering sector worldwide.

    As part of the international sustainability rating EcoVadis, Voith was again awarded the silver medal in 2024 and ranks among the top 15% of all companies assessed by EcoVadis.

    Sustainability ratings are playing an increasingly important role for banks and customers. In this way, ecological and social improvements lead to concrete economic benefits - that's what sustainable action is all about.

    ISS ESG Prime Status

    In January 2024 we joined the world’s largest initiative for responsible and sustainable corporate governance, the United Nations Global Compact, to further underscore our commitment to sustainable business practice. We have given a clear and resounding affirmative to participating in this international network and to committing ourselves to the ten global principles of the Global Compact, including human and labor rights, diversity, and anti-corruption.

    Our contribution to climate protection and resource conservation

      Setting of science-based climate targets

      In January 2024, Voith joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the world's leading climate target-setting organization, to drive its climate protection strategy even more effectively. In February 2025, the organization officially confirmed that Voith’s submitted targets are science-based and in line with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.

      Voith Turbo offers innovative drive systems and solutions to meet the need for greater efficiency and sustainability. Among other things, Voith is forcing its way into the wind power market through the acquisition of the Voith subsidiary ELIN Motoren GmbH and cooperation agreements with international wind turbine manufacturers.

        Responsibility for Society

        Responsibility for society has always been part of Voith’s corporate identity. Together with the Hanns-Voith-Foundation, our CSR-program #VoithCares supports 50 social projects worldwide every year, for which our employees volunteer. In line with our DNA “sustainable technologies for future generations”, these projects cover various areas such as education, technology, innovation and social issues.

        Voith aims to identify ecological and economic potentials for improving our production processes and to minimize the environmental impacts of our operational activities.

        Voith’s greatest strength is our capable and motivated employees. In order to meet the complex market requirements of our modern economy, we promote innovation and support the acquisition of new competencies.

        Products

        Voith wants to be a catalyst of a decarbonized industry. To this end, we provide solutions for the use of the renewable energy source hydropower, deliver paper production facilities that make efficient use of resources, and work on systematic drivetrain electrification as well as alternative drives to facilitate eco-friendly mobility.

        In 2023, we received an award for two of our products: The German Sustainability Award for our XcelLine paper machine and the Environmental Technology Award in the energy efficiency category from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection, and the Energy Sector for our innovative Electrical Drive System (VEDS) concept.

        Supply Chain

        Our fundamental principles on resource conservation, environmental and social responsibility are anchored in our Purchasing strategy, in our General Purchasing Conditions and the process descriptions in the Voith Purchasing Manual, right across all our supply chains.

        Transparent actions

          With this new sustainability report we are once again making our actions transparent. After all, our stakeholders decide whether our sustainability measures are successful: Their assessment forms the benchmark for our actions, as this reflects the effectiveness of our activities in the respective fields of action.
