DIWA.3E - Shift less, drive more economically

Bus operators must fully utilize all their resources, in order to keep costs down over time with a more fuel efficient driving method, less wear and low maintenance expense. The DIWA.3E automatic transmission with E 310 control and the ALADIN diagnosis software will help you in doing this.

The long DIWA driving mode allows for stepless driving at lower speeds. The result is up to 50% less shifting compared to conventional automatic transmissions.

Design

The design of the DIWA.3E transmission is simple, logical and clear. The main piece is the hydrodynamic offset converter. The pump brake, coupling, differential transmission and input coupling as well as the coupling for the overdrive are located to the front of it.

Differential converter principle

All Voith DIWA transmissions work according to the power distribution principle. It provides even start-up and acceleration through a speed range in which other drives would have to shift 2 to 3 times.

Retarder

The differential converter, the core component of the DIWA transmission works as a retarder when braking.

Thus, it enables driving and braking with a hydraulic circuit. The brake performance for average and high speeds is increased by up to 30% in comparison to conventional automatic transmissions.

The advantage is that the operating brake is relieved, thus reducing brake wear.

By constantly filling the converter with oil, a faster response time is achieved when activating the retarder. To deactivate the retarder, the transmission control merely opens a coupling. The retarder responds in a matter of seconds; thus, driving safety is increased.

E 310 transmission control

The control not only reports errors, but also all identifiable events that indicate wear, faulty operation or necessary maintenance work.Causes can be precisely detailed and thus, quickly limited based on the diagnosis depth of the E 310

SensoTop shifting program

The topography-dependent shifting program SensoTop optimally matches all shifting points to acceleration, distance profile and loading.

A tilt sensor delivers to the transmission control the necessary information for the stepless adjustment of shifting points. The driver has the best engine power available for level roads or mountainous terrain and heavy or light loads.

Practice shows that depending on topography and vehicle use, you can save up to 7% in fuel. A significant contribution to economical and environmentally-friendly vehicle operation.
