TSB, which is located in Gundelfingen on the Danube in Germany, specializes in challenging heavy goods transport. For the company’s management and its drivers, a truck fleet without the Voith VIAB Turbo Retarder Clutch VIAB is inconceivable.
Wear-free acceleration and braking
VIAB enables a wear-free, comfortable ride that brings a smile not just to the faces of truckers but to fleet operators as well. Hardly surprising, given that, compared with other systems, the Turbo Retarder Clutch VIAB offers impressively low maintenance and repair costs as well as high fuel savings.
Turbo Retarder Clutch VIAB
VIAB combines turbo coupling and retarder in one hydrodynamic circuit. The coupling offers a high degree of driving comfort thanks to hydrodynamic start-up and maneuvering. The integrated primary retarder allows maximum braking power, even at low speeds.
Mercedes-Benz Actros SLT
All 40 prime movers in the TSB fleet are fitted with Mercedes-Benz drivetrain and Turbo Retarder Clutch VIAB. This allows extremely precise maneuvering and moving off at consistently low operating temperatures, even at low speed and under heavy loads.
Small turbine transports big stator.
The stator transported for us on a heavy-duty truck across Germany from our plant in Heidenheim to the hydropower station in Töging am Inn was a gigantic 8.2 meters wide and weighed 105 metric tons.
Thanks to the Turbo Retarder Clutch VIAB, the driver from haulage firm TSB was able to start up powerfully, maneuver with millimeter precision and brake safely at all times.
The heavier the truck, the bulkier the load and the rougher the terrain, the higher the load on clutch and brakes. We can prevent this being the case with our Turbo Retarder Clutch VIAB.
Our customer TSB Transport-Service-Beitinger specializes in heavy goods transport and can no longer imagine a truck fleet without VIAB.
TSB regularly transports heavy goods for Voith. The components for hydropower plants or paper machines it transports often weigh several hundred metric tons and frequently have to be transported over rough terrain to remote plants. When carrying such heavy loads, the driver needs to be able to maneuver past obstacles with millimeter precision.
Our Turbo Retarder Clutch VIAB allows high-precision maneuvering and start-up at consistently low operating temperatures, even in the lowest speed range and when carrying particularly heavy loads. TSB’s drivers love it and wouldn’t be without it.
You too can increase the safety and cost effectiveness of your heavy goods transport.
Benefit from considerably longer service lives for friction clutches and service brakes, as well as much improved ride comfort.
Overview of the main benefits of our Turbo Retarder Clutch VIAB
- Superlative comfort thanks to high-precision, hydrodynamic start-up and maneuvering, even in the case of high laden weight.
- Maximum traction over the entire speed range
- Full torque at low speeds up to traction limit
- Stable temperatures even under high loads, compared with conventional torque converters.
- Integrated high-performance primary retarder allows maximum braking power even at low speeds.
- Retarder function also in reverse gear
Use VIAB in your fleet too!
With our help and the Turbo Retarder Clutch VIAB you too can ensure that the journeys made by your fleet are even safer and more cost effective and comfortable.
As well as providing a smooth start-up, the VIAB also functions as a primary retarder. This means that even in difficult situations the driver always has the full braking power at their disposal, because the service brake does not get hot. This improves safety in road traffic and at the same time reduces the wear on the brake pads.
Efficient and reliable transportation of goods
More than 850,000 Voith retarders reliably relieve truck operating brakes. The driver and load always arrive at their destination safely.Learn more
With Voith retarders, up to 90 percent of all braking actions can be performed without wear. This represents a significant increase in safety. Retarders protect the service brakes, thus reducing expenditures on spare parts and maintenance. At the same time, transport capabilities increase due to higher average speeds.Learn more
Power, strength and durability are attributes that immediately spring to mind to describe trucks that have to carry heavy loads of sand, gravel or timber. But sometimes the big muscles among the commercial vehicles are about something entirely different – a sensitivity that makes every inch count.Learn more
