With four bulb turbines, Baguari supplies power to the Brazilian grid with a total capacity of 140 MW. Voith’s machines for this plant were manufactured completely in Brazil. The first of the four units had already been commissioned in September 2009, being three months ahead of schedule.

Baguari is the first hydropower scheme to be commissioned under the national Growth Acceleration Program “PAC”. One focus within the PAC program lies on the development of the electric power supply. Brazil has an abundance of water and rivers, therefore, hydropower plants will play a significant role in this scheme.
