Sustainable mobility for maritime applications
The electric Voith Schneider Propeller (eVSP) combines all advantages of the VSP with the electric motor of the Voith Inline Thruster. The result is a reliable, energy-efficient, environmentally friendly and compact drive unit that is optimized for offshore and ferry applications as well as for use in tugs. Like the conventional VSP, the eVSP achieves maximum thrust in all directions – infinitely variable and with maximum precision.
Your most important benefits at a glance
The eVSP offers proven technologies for reliable performance, an efficient electric drive system for maximum effectiveness, a compact design to suit individual requirements, and improved sustainability.
Optional features: Voith Roll Stabilization, Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EAL)
eVSP: Environmentally friendly and resource-saving with minimal noise
The powerful, directly integrated electric motor (PM motor) delivers high torque and fast response, without any gears. It thus ensures a more direct and almost loss-free conversion of the electrical drive power into thrust and keeps noise-emissions to a minimum. Due to its low maintenance requirements, follow-up costs for the robust electric propeller are dramatically reduced.
eVSP with eight blades for even quieter and more efficient operation
eVSP with eight blades for even quieter and more efficient operation
The eight blades ensure that maritime applications can operate even more quietly. The eight-bladed eVSP reduces the background exposure for marine life due to noise and/or underwater sound, which has almost doubled worldwide in the last few years – partly because of increasing shipping traffic and the engine noise from these vessels. Thanks to this noise reduction, the new eVSP is making an important contribution to protecting marine fauna.
The latest iteration of the eVSP will be used for the first time in practice in the Meteor IV.
