A perfectly aligned process with market-leading components

In combination with sophisticated automation solutions, the customized process concepts and highly efficient components from the BlueLine product range contribute significantly to the cost-effective operation of the plant. Voith covers the complete process, from stock preparation through approach flow system to fiber recovery and broke handling. An overview:

          Stock preparation

          Raw material handling

Voith Paper provides virgin pulp handling systems for paper production
The purpose of a virgin pulp handling system is to prepare and de-wire the raw material bales supplied. We offer a large number of solutions for this process step.

          Pulping

The IntensaPulper IP-V from Voith enables the efficient pulping of virgin fibers in paper production
Pulping is the first process step in the paper manufacturing process. Its purpose is to produce a clean fiber suspension that can be pumped forward in the process. The IntensaPulper IP-V enables the efficient pulping of virgin fibers, clean recovered paper or broke, in batch or continuous operation. A bale breaker breaks up the virgin fiber bales and thus helps increase production capacity.

          HC cleaning

Voith's high-consistency cleaner InduraHiClean removes abrasive contaminants in the stock preparation system in paper mills
The purpose of the high-consistency (HC) cleaner InduraHiClean is to remove abrasive contaminants like stones or little pieces of wire, to prevent excessive wear in downstream equipment like refiners and pumps.

          Refining

Voith Paper provides high-efficient refiners for paper production
Refining has a considerable influence on fiber characteristics, to meet the requirements of the papermaking process and the desired properties of the final paper. Intelligent setting of the refining process is important and also guarantees uniform fiber treatment even in the event of process fluctuations.

          Approach flow system

          Stock mixing and dosing

The basis for a stable basis weight profile is the uniform consistency of the stock fed into the headbox. In the approach flow section, the Voith ComMix and HydroMix systems ensure efficient mixing in the high-consistency stock range and homogeneous mixing of the stock with the white water.
Find out more about our stock mixing and dosing systems here

          Chemical dosing

A key criterion for high-quality paper is the optimal dosing of the process chemicals and additives in the paper machine’s approach flow system. With FlowJec, Voith offers what is currently the most efficient dosing system for sustainable and resource-conserving dosing of all chemicals and additives in the paper manufacturing process.
Find out more about our chemical dosing systems here

          Screening

Screening is used in various areas of the paper manufacturing process to reproducibly remove undesirable material from the fiber suspension. In the approach flow system directly upstream of the paper machine, such undesirable materials include flakes and small shavings. Pressure pulsations at headbox inlet must be avoided to ensure a uniform paper sheet.

The IntegraGuard screen is used in the first stage of the approach flow system and has been designed to fulfill highest requirements without additional pulsation damper. In the subsequent second and possibly third stage, the aim is to concentrate and continually remove the rejects to achieve low reject rates in virgin fibers. This is achieved with the IntegraScreen in combination with MultiFoil rotors and C-bar screen baskets.

          LC cleaning

The purpose of LC cleaning is to separate coarse or fine, specifically heavy or light contaminants, and air. This is intended to improve the technological cleanliness of the pulp and/or reduce wear in downstream equipment.

The InduraClean concept has a modular structure that allows the cleaners to be easily adapted to the customer’s individual requirements and production targets.

          Pulp degassing

Voith offers solutions for pulp degassing in the approach flow system for all paper grades and machine sizes.
Gas in the pulp has a lot of negative effects. Gas bubbles can disrupt sheet formation, resulting in paper defects. In addition, bubbles hinder dewatering in the wire section. VoithVac and CycloMech for active degassing can solve the problems associated with gas. For this purpose, Voith offers solutions for all paper grades and machine sizes.
Find out more about our pulp degassing solutions here

          Fiber recovery

Voith provides equipment for fiber recovery in paper production
Fiber recovery is the “kidney” of the water loop and returns valuable fibers and treated water back to the production process. This results in lower consumption of fibers and fresh water. Optimum filtrate qualities can be ensured with the InfiltraDiscfilter and Meri Deltapurge and Tauro flotation solutions.

          Broke preparation

          Pulping

The IntensaPulper IP-V from Voith enables the efficient pulping of dry broke in paper production.
The pulping of wide paper webs at full production speed is extremely challenging, especially when producing thick, wet-strength papers. Voith has the right solutions for all kinds of broke. Thanks to its narrow, compact design, the CompactPulper CP does not need a lot of space and is used for press broke and dry broke. The IntensaPulper IP-V enables the efficient pulping of dry broke in batch or continuous operation.

          Thickening

The EFK thickener from Voith is suitable for thickening pulp in the paper manufacturing process.
EFK thickener is suitable for thickening pulp upstream of screw presses and storage chests. In the broke preparation process, it evens out fluctuations in stock consistency, increases storage capacity, and as a result, helps ensure stable machine operation.

          HC cleaning

The InduraHiClean from Voith is used for efficient broke cleaning in the paper manufacturing process.
The purpose of broke cleaning, which takes place in the case of higher stock consistencies, is to protect downstream equipment. The InduraHiClean has a modular structure that allows the cleaners to be easily adapted to the customer’s individual requirements and production targets.

          Screening

Voith Paper provides efficient solutions for broke screening in paper production
Broke preparation is intended to remove contaminants like fiber bundles, sand and plastic. The effective removal of contaminants and reliably high throughputs along with low reject rates are achieved by means of the IntegraScreen in combination with the EclipseR rotor and C-bar HerculeX screen basket.
Find out more about our screening systems here

          Deflaking

Voith provides efficient solutions for deflaking in the pepr manufacturing process.
The deflaker separates the fibers by means of acceleration and deceleration processes. The energy used and number of stages depend on the strength and properties of the paper.
