WUERZBURG/ST. POELTEN. Starting in 2022, a series of 18 new low-floor trams will be put into operation in Würzburg, with Voith selected to supply the electrical equipment. Voith is thus helping to increase the long-term viability of a sustainable public transport system for the customer, Würzburger Straßenbahn GmbH. The tight turns in Würzburg's old town and steep slopes in the surrounding city districts require tailor-made vehicles combined with state-of-the-art technology to offer passengers the highest level of comfort. The five-part modular low-floor trams, to be supplied by the German company HeiterBlick Straßenbahnen GmbH, are conceptually adapted to the specific characteristics of the infrastructure involving steep track sections.

Besides the traction system consisting of traction converters, braking resistors, control levers and components of the high-voltage equipment, the Voith product scope also includes the on-board systems and vehicle control system, as well as the diagnosis and monitoring system.
