Award for Voith Turbo’s “outstanding production network”

  • Systematic digitalization has enabled expertise, machines and production capacities to be administered, controlled and distributed globally at Voith Turbo
  • This has resulted in a further increase in the effectiveness and efficiency of the entire production process
Heidenheim. Standing in for all Voith Turbo plants, the company's facilities in Salzgitter, Crailsheim and Garching won the “Factory of the Year/Global Excellence in Operations” award in the category “Outstanding Production Network” this year. In coming to its decision, the competition advisory board acknowledged that at Voith Turbo, the “vision of its future integrated production network is being implemented in a consistent, systematic and socially responsible manner”.

In this context, a decisive role is being played by measures already realized as a result of “Accelerate”, the company's future strategy program whose overarching growth targets are based on three clearly defined cornerstones: maximum customer focus, technological leadership and world-class performance. “We are justifiably very proud of our excellent production network and the fact that we have won this coveted award, which now also provides official confirmation that the digitalization and optimization measures already implemented as a result of the Accelerate Program are now giving us an important competitive edge in practice,” stresses Voith Turbo CEO Dr. Uwe Knotzer. Not least over the around 150 international competitors that also took part in the competition.

Thanks to a systematic digitalization process, expertise, machines and production capacities at Voith Turbo can meanwhile be administered, controlled and distributed internationally to further improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the entire production process. One of the prerequisites for this was the establishment of centers of competence in the various plants, each linked with Voith Turbo’s worldwide production network. In non-production areas, interfaces had to be standardized and data exchange processes expanded.

The “Factory of the Year/Global Excellence in Operations” award has been presented annually since 1992 by the business magazine “Produktion” and management consultancy A.T. Kearney. The winners have therefore successfully prevailed in the most prestigious and toughest benchmark competition for the manufacturing sector in Germany and Europe.
