Günter Armbruster turns 80
Born in Stuttgart, he has worked for Voith since 1971 and spent his entire career in the company. In 1974, he became Head of Central Plant Planning in Heidenheim in the division "Production" and in 1984 Managing Director of the "Manufacturing and Materials Management" division, before finally taking over as Chairman of the Board of Management of Voith Turbo Antriebstechnik (“Drive Technology”) in 1992. Under his direction, Voith Turbo Antriebstechnik took over parts of the Bergische Stahlindustrie (Mühlheim/Ruhr), Küsel Gelenkwellen- und Antriebstechnik (Essen) and Scharfenbergkupplung (Salzgitter). In 1997, Armbruster became a member of the Board of Management of Voith AG when it became a private limited company. In the course of the takeover of DIW Deutsche Industriewartung AG, Stuttgart, Armbruster was appointed Chairman of the Board of Management of the new subsidiary on April 1, 2001 and represented the Group Divisions Voith Turbo and Voith Industrial Services on the Board of Management of Voith AG. He retired on January 29, 2004.
