Voith Hydro transports giant stator to Bavarian power plant
- Widest transport in the history of Voith Hydro Heidenheim leaves the factory premises.
- Stator has a diameter of 8.2 meters and a weight of over 100 tons.
- Delivery object is part of the first of three 55 MVA generators for the renewal of the power station Töging am Inn.

The fully assembled stator with a diameter of 8.2 meters and a weight of 105 tons is the widest component ever to leave the Voith Hydro Heidenheim plant premises in the history of the company.
Because the stator protruded the already three-meter wide heavy-duty truck by 2.5 meters on each side, traffic lights and traffic signs as well as the signal systems in a tunnel had to be dismantled along the planned route. The heavy transport had to complete the approximately 250-kilometer journey within one night because there was no suitable parking space along the way.
Upon arrival at the destination, the last obstacle, the steep descent to the powerhouse, was overcome via a specially constructed access road.
The stator is part of the first of three 55 MVA generators with which Voith is supporting the energy production increase as part of a renewal project at the almost 100-year-old power plant on the River Inn.
About the hydropower plant
The hydropower plant which was commissioned already in 1924 has an annual generation of 564,600 MWh and is located on the nearly 23 km long Inn Canal in the town of Töging, Bavaria. Since fall 2019 the operator VERBUND is undertaking its reconstruction and renovation. In the future, the plant will supply around 200,000 households with clean domestic electricity.
