Voith publishes Sustainability Report 2019/20
- All Voith locations worldwide to be carbon neutral by 2022
- Production-related energy consumption reduced by almost 30 percent
“At Voith, sustainability and profitable growth go hand in hand. For more than 150 years, our technologies have been helping to make industry sustainable, whether at our customers’ plants or in our own production facilities. We are well on track to reach our goal of operating as a carbon neutral business by 2022. By 2022, none of Voith’s locations worldwide will have a carbon footprint,” explains Dr. Toralf Haag, Chairman of the Corporate Board of Management, commenting on the publication of the Sustainability Report 2019/20.
In the last financial year, Voith made further improvements in sustainability, including within the scope of energy and resource management. “We are working constantly on improving the energy efficiency of our production processes. By doing so we have managed to reduce production-related energy consumption at our sites by a total of 130 gigawatt hours since fiscal year 2011/12, that’s almost 30 percent relative to revenue,” says Markus Schoenberger, Head of Corporate Sustainability at Voith.
Industrial digitalization is increasingly proving to be a driver for the development of sustainable solutions. The latest Sustainability Report demonstrates the growing importance of digital technologies in the Voith portfolio across all Group Divisions. Digital innovations allow us to help customers improve the availability of their facilities or reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions in the production process.
With its extensive portfolio of sustainable technological solutions and services, Voith is making a major contribution to sustainability in the industry. In this context, the focus is on the following areas: renewable energy from hydropower; resource-conserving paper production; and drive technology for efficiency and environmentally-friendly mobility.
The current report describes the progress made in fiscal year 2019/20, i.e. from October 1, 2019 till September 30, 2020. Voith’s reporting is based on the internationally recognized guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The Sustainability Report is available as a PDF in English and German on our Sustainability page. See link at the bottom.
