After studying Chemical Engineering & Management Science at the University of Waterloo (Ontario, Canada), Bill started his career in 1987 as a Process Engineer for Tremco Canada Limited.
In 1990, Bill joined General Electric gaining experience in several businesses starting with GE Plastics/Silicones as Plant Manager. In 1995, he became General Manager at GE Motors for the AC Traction Motors Business. He was then part of the initial wave of Master Black Belts in GE leading their launch of the Six Sigma Corporate initiative in the mid ‘90s. In 1998, he became Vice President Global Operations & Services for GE Digital Energy – Multilin, and in 2003, General Manager for GE Energy Services (North America).
In 2005, Bill joined HD Supply (Industrial Division of Home Depot) as Canadian Director of their Industrial Supply Division.
In 2007, he joined Voith Hydro as Head of Voith Hydro Mississauga (VHMS) and Member of the Board of Management for Voith Hydro Canada.
Since December 2013, Bill is President and Chief Executive Officer of Voith Hydro Canada.
Bill plays an active role in the hydropower industry as he serves on the Board of the Canadian Hydro Association (CHA) and as a member of the National Electricity Roundtable (NER). He also takes part in promoting and supporting World Class business initiatives for Continuous Improvement in Canadian industry. In 2002, he was appointed Chairman of the Board for the High Performance Manufacturing (HPM) Consortium and was re-elected to a second term in 2005. He was also Vice President for the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) for the Canadian Region between 2004 and 2006. Since 2013, Bill is a member of the executive committees of the National Electricity Roundtable (NER) and of the Canadian Hydropower Association (CHA).
