      Tissue

Growing demand for tissue is more than evident, so it is up to Voith to support the production of high-quality hygienic paper. With that demand in mind, we have developed optimized fabrics for use in tissue mills.

      Board & Packaging

From forming to drying, fabrics for board & packaging production must provide special functionality to help achieve the final product’s desired structural qualities and strength.

      Graphic & Specialty

Meeting the tight parameters of the end customers’ expectations drives graphic and specialty mills to seek out perfection during production, and finding the right fabric in every position is just one step to achieve that high-quality output.

      Pulp

Creating the foundational material for many types of paper production, pulp mills need hardy fabrics that withstand tough chemical treatments and varied base material qualities.

      ToughLine 2/3 S

      TOUGHLINE 3 & 3S

Voith’s ToughLine 3S design will help provide a uniform felt surface to improve sheet smoothness while giving you the sheet transfer and wear resistant characteristics needed on the surface and roll side of the felt. The coarse batt in the substructure will help keep the felt open to manage the water during the life of the felt.
      ToughLine Advance S

      TOUGHLINE ADVANCE S

Voith’s ToughLine Advance S design is the next generation Infinity press fabric with an especially uniform, high-quality base fabric that results in a laminated structure with resilience under load and the ability to maintain void volume throughout operation.
      • The base structure will consist of a larger CD and MD yarn woven into Voith‘s Infinity weave pattern to help provide more void volume to remove more water from the sheet.
      • The woven fine mesh Top cloth will increase the compaction resistance in the nip and facilitate water removal from the sheet. The batt will also be able to anchor itself better to this base structure to resist wear.
      • A formed loop system for the ultimate loop uniformity and alignment. This results in ease of meshing and seaming.

                Syn Strand yarns

                Syn Strand yarns

Many Voith fabrics start out as polymer resin beads at our Syn Strand plant in Summerville, South Carolina. This polymer (BH – polymers), selected for its ability to stand up to extreme papermaking conditions without losing  integrity, is processed and restructured at the facility and finally extruded as a thin polymer yarn. This yarn is wound onto large spools for use in the weaving process at our weaving facilities in Appleton, Wisconsin; Shreveport, Louisiana; Waycross, Georgia; and Florence, Mississippi.

                Weaving process

Weaving the fabric for use in the paper industry begins with loading dozens of polyfiber spools on to the fabric loom – a large, mechanical version of old-time looms. Using the latest in digital controls, the loom reels in the polyfiber and weaves the requested fabric type – forming, press or dryer – at the custom dimensions required for a specific paper machine.

                Quality control

Our fabrics are weaved to exact specifications at our Appleton, Wisconsin, facility, while our quality control instruments ensure fabric structure and strength. Each fabric is then visually inspected inch by inch, from side to side and end to end by our technicians while under controlled lighting on special racks built to handle the largest production sizes.
