Bergmilch Südtirol and Voith continue their successful cooperation
Since its start-up in 2012 the discontinuous cooling tunnel StoreCool SC from Voith runs trouble-free at Bergmilch Südtirol.
Bergmilch Südtirol decided on a cold storage room by Voith Paper Air Systems already in August 2009. The existing cooling capacity for mascarpone had to be expanded at the facility in Bruneck. In a combined effort, the system as well as the product packaging was optimized in a way that the cooling times of the existing cooling systems were almost cut in half. As a result of the high demand for Bergmilch mascarpone, there was the need to invest in a fully automatic cooling tunnel. The best system was put together by intensive cooperation with Voith, just like for the previous project. In October 2012, already 5 months after conclusion of the contract, the cooling tunnel could be delivered for production.
The StoreCool SC cooling tunnel is placed on the roof of the production hall, so no production or storage area was lost. With the chosen features cooled products do not have to be transferred out of the cooling tunnel. The cooling capacity can be reduced automatically in each zone after reaching the desired temperature. The final temperature can thus be maintained for any length of time. Cooling curves for different products can be stored in the controller and guarantee always optimum product cooling.
Alex Berger, project manager and head of the technical project management, expressed fully satisfied: “Both, the cooperation with Voith and the cooling tunnel met our expectations completely. The implemented concept contributes an important part to quality assurance and flexibility at Bergmilch Südtirol.”
Voith is constantly working on product innovations. The new product ideas will be tested in the test cooling tunnel at the Voith location in Bayreuth.
Voith Paper is a division of the Voith Group and the leading partner to and pioneer in the paper industry. Through constant innovations, Voith Paper is optimizing the paper manufacturing process, focusing on developing resource-saving products to reduce the use of energy, water, and fibers.
