The task of the competition was to present a construction-ready concept of a small power station for generating electricity by a micro wind power plant with a rotor diameter of 1.4 meters. Seven teams from different universities participated in the challenge: the VibraVento team of FH Bielefeld, Windzip, Powerplant, Energypack and Invento of the KIT, two teams from Offenburg University as well as the AnemoTec team of Heidenheim Cooperative University, which also features the three Voith students. Magnus Blaczek and Felix Göbel have been studying in Heidenheim with Voith as a dual partner since 2011. They are scheduled to complete their studies in September 2014 with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree together with Andreas Etzel, a student from Voith Turbo GmbH & Co. KG in Crailsheim.

Their AnemoTec team was able to convince the jury with an advanced development of the Ott measuring blade and a meticulous concept, and thus won one of the main prizes of EUR 300, as well as EUR 250 in sponsorship money for the construction of the prototype. The prototypes of the winners will be tested in the KIT wind tunnel in summer 2014.
